{"id":718,"date":"2018-05-13T16:33:59","date_gmt":"2018-05-13T14:33:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/systev.com\/?p=718"},"modified":"2019-06-09T20:03:48","modified_gmt":"2019-06-09T18:03:48","slug":"mangoh-red-configuring-developer-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systev.com\/mangoh-red-configuring-developer-studio\/","title":{"rendered":"mangOH Red: configuring Developer Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Introduction<\/h1>\n<p>In this article, we will see how to add Developer Studio, the Sierra Wireless Eclipse-based IDE, to the VM we built in <a href=\"http:\/\/systev.com\/mangoh-red-using-a-linux-mint-vm-for-development\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previous article<\/a>. By default, Developer Studio is configured for a previous version of Legato (the official production version). To be able to use the latest Legato version that we installed in previous article, some additional configuration must be performed. We will go through associated steps.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h1>Installation of production version<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>using the Package Manager or apt-get, install openjdk-8-jre<\/li>\n<li>download Developer Studio standalone package for Linux 64 bit from <a href=\"https:\/\/source.sierrawireless.com\/resources\/legato\/developerstudio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this page<\/a><\/li>\n<li>create <code>~\/DeveloperStudio<\/code> folder and unzip downloaded file (<code>devstudio-5.3.1-linux64.zip<\/code> in my case) there<\/li>\n<li>double-click on <code>~\/DeveloperStudio\/devstudio<\/code><\/li>\n<li>keep suggested folder for workspace (<code>\/home\/mangoh\/workspace<\/code>) and click on <strong>Launch<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<li>the startup operations wizard window appears. Check <strong>Create desktop file<\/strong>,\u00a0 and enter <code>~\/DeveloperStudio\/devstudio.desktop<\/code>, for instance.\u00a0 If an error message is still displayed (file not found), uncheck <strong>Create desktop file<\/strong>, and re-check it. Click on <strong>Next &gt;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>check the target module (<code>WP85XX<\/code> for me), keep default package selected (<code>Legato for WP85\/WP75 R15 (16.10.4.wp85-wp75-native-x86_64-201712131538<\/code>) and accept the license. Click on <strong>Finish<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>five packages are downloaded and installed<\/li>\n<li>while packages are being downloaded, create a menu entry for Developer Studio, thanks to the desktop file:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre>sudo cp ~\/DeveloperStudio\/devstudio.desktop \/usr\/share\/applications\/\n<\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>once package installation is done, the Welcome page is displayed. You can minimize or close it<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Configuration for latest Legato version<\/h1>\n<p>As described in <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.legato.io\/t\/adding-newest-version-legato-framework-into-developer-studio\/2654\/2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this article<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>in <strong>Window \/ Preferences \/ Developer Studio \/ Package Manager<\/strong>, uncheck <strong>Work only with baseline packages<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>click on <strong>Apply and Close<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<li>in <strong>Window \/ Perspective \/ Open Perspective \/ Other&#8230;<\/strong> select <strong>Packages<\/strong> and click on <strong>Open<\/strong> button<\/li>\n<li>click on the <strong>Add new repository<\/strong> tool, in the <strong>Available Packages<\/strong> window<\/li>\n<li>check <strong>Folder<\/strong> and select <code>\/home\/mangoh\/legato_framework\/legato folder<\/code><\/li>\n<li>open the item just added to the list of available packages, select the package, and click on the <strong>Install selected package or repository<\/strong> tool<\/li>\n<li>in <strong>Window \/ Preferences \/ Developer Studio \/ Target Platform<\/strong>, select the built-in Legato for WP85XX, click on <strong>Duplicate&#8230;<\/strong> button, and give a name to the new target, Legato 18.04.0 for WP85XX for instance. Modify the message, replacing <code>world<\/code>. by <code>how are you?<\/code> for instance:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/systev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/DSCreateLegatoApp03.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-727 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/systev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/DSCreateLegatoApp03-medium.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"389\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/systev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/DSCreateLegatoApp03-medium.png 389w, https:\/\/systev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/DSCreateLegatoApp03-medium-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 389px) 100vw, 389px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>connect the mangOH Red board to the computer, and attach associated USB device to the VM as soon as it is visible in the list of USB devices in the VirtualBox VM menu (<strong>Devices \/ USB<\/strong>), if the attachment is not performed automatically<\/li>\n<li>after a few tens of seconds, Developer Studio should detect the board.
